Abstract

The suitability of utilizing a single-phase self-excited induction generator to feed an identical single-phase induction motor is assessed. A simple and efficient algorithm is proposed to predict the performance of this generator-motor system. A close agreement achieved between the simulations of the algorithm and the corresponding results obtained by Newton-Raphson method confirms the algorithm’s validity. The proposed motor-generator system has been tested for different operating conditions. The results show that a single- phase self-excited generator can be safely used to feed an identical single-phase induction motor.
