An alternative to conventional geometric modeling is discussed. In most geometric modeling software, a user constructs complex forms from scratch. Instead, this paper proposes an incremental process that involves automatic generation for some elements. The incremental approach starts with basic geometric elements such as points, lines, and simple planes. These elements are subject to automatic replacement by more sophisticated ones that are chosen from of a set of Three-Dimensional forms stored in a graphic database library. This paper discusses a theoretical framework for the derivation of complex forms by replacement. The framework is demonstrated by a computer program that implements the concepts underlying the theoretical description.
