Abstract

Considering the World Wide Web as a distributed database of resources with an unmanaged structure of hyperlinks, we are motivated by emergent distributed hash table (DHT) technologies to propose a peer-to-peer paradigm of web browsing where a hyperlink can consistently direct a web browser to the server location of a mobile resource identified by a Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Our approach can provide a lightweight mechanism for weaving the web in the so-called peer-to peer fashion that uses decentralized controls. In addition, using a DHT to implement the paradigm will ensure great scalability and excellent mobility of the Internet resources.
