Strategic alliances; networks; networking capability; innovation success
As the speed of knowledge generation and innovation has increased dramatically, companies need to engage in external networks to optimize their innovation efforts. Prior research suggests that the degree of a company's innovation success via cooperation is positively correlated with its level of networking capability. As earlier studies have only tangentially touched the construct, our research focuses on analyzing capabilities involved in managing a network of innovators. Based on a grounded theory approach, we have developed a conceptual framework of an individual manager's networking capability, which also provides some testable ground for further research and managerial practice.
