Electrical Machines, Variable Speed Drives Applications
Teknatool International ltd wishes to incorporate an electronic variable speed motor drive unit into one of their series of wood turning lathes. Traditionally the lathe incorporates a constant speed motor with a pulley system to select one of several different speeds of operation. The development of an electronic variable speed drive will ultimately improve the value and marketability of the lathe. This was achieved and the product was introduced to the market as the first of its kind in the world market. This paper will outline all the stages involved from the initial concept to the final commercial product.
