Tracking, power flows, FACTS equipment, graphs
This paper applies a comprehensive power tracking methodology to assess the reactive power performance of FACTS equipment in network-wide applications. The tracking algorithm is based on electric circuits principles only and starts from a power flow solution of the network. It applies independently to active, reactive and distortion powers. In this paper emphasis is placed on the reactive power flows contributed by FACTS equipment because this is a new application area with important future ramifications to voltage collapse issues. Unbundled information as to which generator and FACTS equipment supply which load and, in what proportion, is an integral part of the solution. The straightforwardness of the method is demonstrated by numeric examples.
