Power distribution, Low-voltage line, Pole transformer,Optimum construction, Power system planning
This paper proposes a new method to search the optimum low-voltage distribution network which can supply suffi cient power to customer's loads by a minimum number of pole transformers. The construction of pole transformers and low-voltage lines are arranged under the requirement that the voltage distribution along the low-voltage line re mains within a pre-determined tolerance level. It is found that there is a chance the number of transformers in the op timum system decreases by 50 % compared with a current system, while the total length of the low-voltage lines is longer by 50 %. As a result, it is possible to reduce the construction cost of the distribution system by 3 % - 10 %, depending on the load density. The higher the load den sity in the area is, the better is reduction in the construction cost.
