Maximal-ratio combining, rectangular M-QAM, Rayleigh fading
We use a pre-averaging approach to derive exact closed form expressions of symbol error probability (SEP) for MRC reception of arbitrary rectangular M-QAM signals over flat Rayleigh fading channels. We assume fading between diversity channels to be independent and channel average powers (or average fading amplitudes) to be mixed with identical and distinctive values. Monte Carlo simulation results are in excellent agreements with theoretical results.
