Wireless mobile Ad-Hoc network (MANET) is a network of mobile nodes with no fixed infrastructure, and communicates through multi-hop routing over shared, scarce wireless channels. So, the mobility management of mobile nodes is essential in MANETs. In this paper, two adaptive mobility management schemes are proposed: One is an adaptive randomized database group scheme for MANETs. In this scheme, databases are used to store location of mobile nodes and to manage their mobility. If the location of a mobile host is changed, some databases are updated, which are selected randomly considering the popularity of mobile hosts dynamically. In a call delivery, randomly selected databases are queried because the location of a mobile host is required. Another scheme is a group quorum-based adaptive mobility management scheme considering the degree of locality, which is managing the location information for all nodes efficiently in MANETs. In this scheme, mobility databases storing location information of mobile hosts can be selected adaptively from quorum system by considering the degree of locality. The performances of the proposed schemes are evaluated by an analytical model and compared with those of existing mobility management schemes.
