: Mixed-mode delivery brought together full time and part-time students, mostly oil-industry employees with shift patterns which disrupt studies. The part-time students could work entirely on-line but optional fortnightly tutorials were conducted on campus with the students logged-in to the Virtual Campus. Day-class had tutor support throughout. Students explored provided or sourced case studies or their own work in discussion forums. Assessment used completion of a weekly log book with proforma pages. Students’ expectations and perceptions were gauged by pre and post-questionnaires and interview. Grade analysis was conducted. Design and operational issues raised are significant for e-tutors.
