Current CAD systems are efficient for all geometrical tasks (even if numerical errors still occur, sometimes leading to a system deadlock). Unfortunately, they are unusable during the first steps of design when designers just have in mind a sketch of their conception. The reason is that CAD systems do not integrate properly functions from requirements. They just deal with features, which is inadequate to really take into account design intent. We introduce in this paper the main concepts of the DIJA project which is based on a new methodology of design. The DIJA project provides basic software components in order to develop any application from any trade domain in regarding design intent. These basic software components use Web technology, ensure an intuitive computer-human interface and provide a new design methodology, named synthetic method, using a top down approach. We explain the main three basic components: a construction historic, a dialog and visualisation model and a distributed architecture and show that it is possible to create different applications by presenting two operational systems: one dedicated to the art of entertaining and a second one to foundry.
