A Petri Net based Model for Control of Complex Manufacturing Operation Systems

Abstract

A new class of Petri nets, called „Industrial Petri Nets” (IPN) has been used in the paper to build a model of discrete manufacturing processes in CIM systems. The purpose of the model is formal description of manufacturing, maintenance and control operations, as well as interactions between them in control systems. The formal definition of the IPN model of a complex manufacturing operation system has been displayed. As an example the IPN model for a stamping process in a car factory has been presented in the forms of the IPN graphs.
