This work is concerned with the use of a SART (Si multaneous Algebraic Reconstruction Techniques) algorithm for image reconstruction from projections in 3D cone beam transmission tomography. It aims at the analysis of several 2D interpolation methods used to obtain the projec tion matrix and a set of parameters that play an important role in the reconstruction process, such as the interpolation footprint radius and the relaxation parameter of the SART algorithm, and the use of a Global Optimization algorithm for the best choice of these free parameters in the acquisi tion/reconstruction process.
