Abstract

Robotic devices are increasingly being utilized to rescue victims of natural and man-made disasters. Rescue robots are equipped with a variety of sensors and can act individually or in cooperation with other robots. The stability and reliability of a robotic network is critically important for the success of the rescue mission, especially when the state of the system is changing. This paper describes fundamental concepts of estimating reliability of state dependent networks. A Software Tool for Reliability Estimation (STORE) is presented. Examples of estimating reliability of load sharing, standby, standby with switching, and degraded networks are discussed.
