Home care, monitoring, videoconferencing
Home telehealth has become a more mature technology which can increase access, improve the quality of care and lower cost for home health care services. It may also enhance the ability of the elderly to remain in their homes rather than move to an assisted living facility or a nursing home. The TeleHomeCare and VALUE studies are randomized controlled trials designed to show that quality care can be provided at home in a cost effective program of Internet access, videoconferencing and physiological monitoring that is acceptable and satisfactory for both subjects and their health care providers.
