Abstract

The authors present a fast and reliable software method for power system static security assessment. This method deals with the generalization of fast decoupled load flow calculations based on the use of participation factors of generating units and realistic load behaviour representation. Results of simulation tests with IEEE- 14 and IEEE-30 bus networks show a good performance in time consumption and identification of harmful contingencies for power system security assessment.
