Solar energy, absorption chiller
Iran as a Middle Eastern country has recently begun to use renewable energies. Solar energy, because of its availability and large number of sunny days in this country, is mostly concentrated. In this paper solar absorption chiller that is used in Renewable Energies Research Center (RERC) of Islamic Azad University Majlessi branch is studied. This university is located in hot and dry climate in Isfahan, centeral Iran. Collector types and their orientation, generator inlet hot water temperature and condenser type are considered as basic parameters. Determining the effects of temperatures in absorption chiller refrigeration cycle on its COP (coefficient of performance), it is seen that generator inlet hot water temperature is a very important factor in this type of air conditioning systems. Therefore effects of basic parameters, Collector types and their orientation, generator inlet hot water temperature and condenser type, on the optimum hot water temperature is studied. It is shown that using solar absorption chillers in hot and dry climate rather than other kinds of chiller can extremely reduce total energy consumption.
