Single machine infinite bus (SMIB), FACTS, STATCOM, SVC.
This paper is about mathematical modelling and simulation of a Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) power system installed with two shunt FACTS devices being; Static Var Compensator (SVC) and Static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). A simulation with Matlab proved that where these devices are installed, they keep the bus voltages to the reference voltages. It has also been realised that STATCOM is superior in performance because it showed to be faster and stable than SVC.
