Abstract

The present paper focuses on modeling adverse events impact on supply chain networks; the proposed model analyzes terrorism actions, contaminated or defective product lots, influence of media broadcasting news and customers fear as well. This research is based on the development of dynamic simulation to investigate hypotheses about the impact of several parameters and the response of different element of the supply chain. Fear caused by terrorism attacks, pandemic fluxes, natural phenomena or contamination of food, plays a major influence upon customers behaviors and their demand. Even after minor problems, influence of different actors (i.e. media) and the manipulation of the event could magnify the real problems and cause distortion in the perception of event.
