Critical Factors, Mobile Learning, Content Development,Content Adaptation
Currently, most of the mobile learning content is created for specific mobile devices, which means that the type of the mobile device is fixed before the content is developed. In ‘any device’ mobile learning, the course content must be delivered to all mobile devices regardless of their capability. The success of mobile learning depends on the ability to receive the learning material anywhere, anytime and through any mobile device. In this paper, strategies for content adaptation based on the device capabilities and user’s preferences are proposed. Four main capabilities of the mobile devices termed as critical factors are identified. The effect of these critical factors on ‘any device’ mobile learning and possible content adaptation methods to overcome this problem are discussed. A suitable framework implementing the adaptation methods is also presented.
