Nanofluid, Volume Fraction, Heat Flux, Mass Flux.
Convective heat transfer characteristics of Al2O3 nanoparticles suspended in water are studied using different volume concentrations. An experimental facility was used to perform experiments at mass fluxes from 200 to 1000 kg/m2-s, heat fluxes from 0.1 to 0.5 MW/m2 and percentage Al2O3 volume fraction up to 1% at a pressure of 1 bar in an annular test section with an inner heating surface of hollow stainless steel. The addition of nanoparticles in water enhances heat transfer coefficient and the enhancement increases with increase in the nanoparticle concentration and flow rate.
