Abstract

The production line supporting manufacturing was formerly small-type mass production but has recently changed to multi-type small-quantity production. The basic configuration of the production line is roughly divided into mechanisms, mechanical tools that combine mechanisms, actuators, and controllers. In order to respond quickly to multi-type small-quantity production, it is necessary to flexibly design mechanisms, mechanical tools, actuators and controllers. In addition, as production lines corresponding to many varieties increase, the opportunity to monitor the operation of the line increases, and there is also an influence of the declining birth rate, and the demand for remote monitoring using artificial intelligence is increasing. In this study, we construct a small production line called a smart factory; acquire the work pieces flowing on the belt conveyor with a camera, and use artificial intelligence to identify the symbols, numbers, and characters written on the workpiece in real time.
