As an important component of modern cities, rail transit plays a convenient, efficient, and environmentally friendly role. Therefore, accurately measuring the internal dimensions of rail vehicle structures is an important part of ensuring the normal operation and maintenance of vehicles. Traditional methods for measuring the internal dimensions of railway vehicle structures often rely on manual measurement, which may result in errors and lack accuracy and repeatability. In addition, manual operations also pose safety risks, sometimes making it impossible to enter the narrow space of the vehicle for measurement. In response to the above issues, a two-axis automatic levelling platform was studied and designed to improve the stability of the system. Alignment control algorithms and central control algorithms were established, and a measurement system for internal dimensions of rail vehicle structures based on automatic measurement technology was designed. The experimental results showed that the measured values of the system fluctuate within a range of 3 mm above and below the true value of 1830.4 mm, with a range of 0.1 and a variance of 0.05. The measurement system for the internal dimensions of railway vehicle structures designed in this study has higher accuracy and smaller errors, and has certain application potential in the field of measurement.
