The authors describe their computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) environment for bilingual deaf education. The environment was designed (1) to provide better opportunities for deaf children to learn; (2) to create a collaborative learning space for deaf children to polish their communication skills; and (3) to help teachers to improve their teaching approaches and class managements by integrating multilevel perspectives. The result of the test run shows that it took less than half an hour for deaf teachers to understand how to use the CSCL environment and that the deaf community was in favour of and accepted it. The authors also analyze how the proposed system was accepted and used in the school year of 2004.
