Abstract

In this article, the contact melting around a moving axisymmetric ellipsoid heat source, which melts its way through a phase change material (PCM) under its own weight, is investigated. The the- oretical formulas of axial melting velocity, surface temperature of the heat source, and melt solid volume are obtained. The effect of compression ratio on these parameters is discussed. The results include that for melting around a moving spherical heat source.
