FPGA, digital pulse width modulator, reflex method
This paper presents an implementation of rule-based control on a field-programmable gate array system by the Reflex method [T.J. Liang, T. Wen, K.C. Tseng, and J.F. Chen, Implementation of a regenerative pulse charger using hybrid buck-boost converter, Proc. 2001 4th IEEE Intern. Conf. on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, Vol. 2, 2001, 437–442] providing high pulse current to charge the lead-acid battery to shorten the charging time. It also generates negative pulse discharging current, which can relax the reaction of electrolyte and extend the life of the battery. The proposed power control circuit consists of three quantizers, namely the analogue-to-digital converter, the proposed algorithm of tuneable duty ratio and digital pulse width modulator for a DC–DC converter. Experimental results from a laboratory prototype are shown to verify the feasibility of the proposed design structure.
